ALONGSIDE THE ONES WHO SUFFER

The story we are going to share today is one of those that need time to process, to reflect, to take counsel and, eventually, speak. The tragedy (or crime as some would call what happened) that occurred October 1st. -- ironically, Children´s day celebration in Guatemala--  in a community called “El Cambray 2", in Santa Catarina Pinula, Guatemala, a landslide that officially killed more than 280 people, 150 living in shelters and an unknown number of people still missing, is an event that hopefully will never be forgotten. In the minds, hearts and lives of so many families there is a terrible loss of their love ones. Some people still haven´t been ...

SETTING TABLES FOR ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

One of the activities we develop in order to contribute to the social and spiritual renewal of Guatemala is by serving local urban leaders to build their organizational capacities. The other two are: Theological and Spiritual formation. By “Organizational capacity building" we mean to provide tools what will help these leaders and the organizations they work with, the abilities to move from good intentions (projects, plans, ideas) to effective outcomes (accomplishing what´s been planned for the following months, years) for the Shalom of their communities. It was so energizing to see a group of twenty leaders from the local network representing ...

Lastimosamente, quienes ...

HOW WALKING IS HELPING US SEE

During this year, we have had the privilege to do many Theological & Historical reflections at the Cemetery General in Guatemala City. No one has been the same as the other. Why? Well... because there has been so many changes in our country during this last six months that every single time that we come back for the reflection, there are new things to add, to include, to reflect and to discern about those things that it has helped us see what God is been doing in our country for hundreds of years. No matter if you come for the first time, the second, the third or more... every time is almost a new experience! We would say that there are at ...

SYNERGY… for the Shalom of the cities

“Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prosper, you too will prosper." Many of us have heard, read, taught, preached and so on in this particular passage. It´s a deep statement that impels us all to do each thing intentionally for the benefit of the cities where we live (including prayers). At the Center for Transforming Mission Guatemala we believe that this is one of the reasons that moves us towards the social and spiritual renewal of our cities around the world. More so, it has become a principle, a value that has been uniting many friends to work and ...
